Evidence of Genocide
Sri Lanka is one of the top red alert countries for Genocide. It has a history of gross human rights violations against its Tamil minorities which led the country to be excluded from the UN Human Rights Council in 2008.
Through massacres, pogroms, artillery attacks and aerial bombardment in Tamil concentrated areas, Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) has killed more than two hundred thousand civilians and forced the internal displacement of more than one million civilians. Tamils face the threat of death for exercising freedoms of expression, movement, association, and participation in public affairs. Amnesty International, Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission and Human Rights Watch have all expressed concern over government involvement in several thousand civilian disappearances and extrajudicial killings of community leaders, members of parliament, human rights activists, humanitarian workers and media personnel has been condemned widely.
